DEMI is pleased to announce the arrival of Prof. Willian Pasini, who joins the team as an Invited Assistant Professor.

On October 24, the PhD defense in Mechanical Engineering by Pedro Rendas took place in the Sala de Atos of Building IV at NOVA FCT.

Within the scope of the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility Visit program – University of Ljubljana and NOVA University Lisbon – NOVA FCT (DEMI) this seminar aims to share scientific and technical knowledge on the application of acoustic non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques in the evaluation of the physical and mechanical properties of wood.

Aneesh Zutshi, professor at DEMI, has been invited by Tbilisi State Medical University to deliver a Keynote Lecture at the International Conference on Medical Education (ICME), which will take place in Tbilisi, Georgia, on 30–31 October 2025.

 

José Xavier, a DEMI professor, recently co-chaired, in partnership with Julien Réthoré (CNRS, Nantes, France), the advanced course "Image-Based Mechanics: An Overview of Experimental and Numerical Approaches."

The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (DEMI) is a permanent organic unit of Nova School of Science and Technology | NOVA FCT, dedicated to teaching, to fundamental and applied scientific research and to the provision of services in the fields of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering.

DEMI counts, currently, with 5 employees and 44 teachers who are committed to offering the best teaching experience and the best knowledge to their students, helping them develop their skills and achieve their personal and professional goals.

DEMI teachers also collaborate, at different levels, with diverse public and private institutions, particularly in the development of research projects in scientific and technological areas of relevance to Industrial and Mechanical Engineering, which aim to respond to the needs of the society.
